IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE MOST KIND THE MOST MERCIFUL.

SALUTATIONS BE UPON OUR BELOVED MASTER THE MESSENGER OF ALLAH  THE ALMIGHTY IN ABUNDANCE.

ALLAH the Al-Mighty has mentioned in the glorious Qur’an,

Say, “O My servants who have transgressed against themselves (by sinning),do not despair of the mercy of Allah . Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (39:53)

In this short life we have been blessed with, we must make sure we live this life in accordance to what our creator and his noble prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) have said and commanded us to do. We must adhere to all rulings that have been set to attain prosperity in this world and in the hereafter. If a person looks with an open heart and an open mind one will be compelled to admit that all the rules and injunctions have been put into place for our benefit. (As mentioned in the previous posts).

As humans, at times we make wrong judgements and do such actions which are prohibited in society and in our communities. For each crime committed a penalty has been put into place to prevent the occurrence of such behaviour. Similarly we may do actions which are contrary to the teachings of Islam due to our negligence or ignorance which may incur a penalty. The reason for this is to make sure we do not destroy ourselves, our souls and to make sure that the society we live in is in peace and harmony.

After committing a crime the least a person should feel is remorse. Remorse is the key ingredient and the right antidote to wipe out ones sins and to reduce the time or penalty the perpetrator may receive.
If a person does a heinous act and is put to trial, before giving the verdict the judge will ask the criminal do you plead guilty or not guilty?! If the criminal shows remorse and pleads guilty there is a high chance the sentence will be reduced.

On the same token my humble readers, we are all sinners of ALLAH the Almighty. As mentioned we are humans and we make mistakes but whenever we break the Command of the creator we must first be remorseful and ashamed of our actions and seek his forgiveness and thereafter keep trying to avoid sinning at all cost.

The difference between the court of ALLAH the Almighty and the court of this world is if you have been found guilty in this world, in the court of man, you HAVE to redeem yourself one way or the other. Either prison, community service or something else. Nevertheless an injunction is issued against you.

However my humble readers in the court of ALLAH the Almighty if forgiveness is sought not only is your crime dismissed but all your previous offences are forgiven, there is no longer a trial, no longer are you a criminal but rather after seeking forgiveness you have become a friend of ALLAH the Almighty. All your past sins are forgiven and it don’t end here my friends, there’s more……

All your bad deeds are changed into good deeds as ALLAH the Almighty has mentions in the glorious Quran,

“Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.” (25:70)

In this world in the court of man even after you have completed your sentence your name is kept on record for five years or depending on the crime maybe even a lifetime. But when we turn to ALLAH seeking his forgiveness he not only forgives us but there is no record kept of it!

NO RECORD AT ALL!

You are a free, cleansed, beautiful soul filled with peace and tranquility in our heart.

Wait there’s more…….

The place where you done the sin is made to forget as to not give evidence against you, the angels that write down your bad deeds, they are made to forget. Your sins are totally wiped away from your book of deeds. There is no trace of it whatsoever!

The sins which you may have done in the darkness of the night, alone, secretly, which you would never want anyone to know is a secret that will remain between you and your creator. A secret which once he has forgiven he will never bring up again. A secret once you have repented he will change into good deeds. A secret that he has concealed it for you from the world and he will continue concealing it from everyone for eternity.

How great is ALLAH the Almighty?
How forgiving is ALLAH the Almighty?
Can there be a better judge than ALLAH the Almighty?

Many a times I have heard people asking me will ALLAH the Almighty forgive me?

Answer:

OF COURSE ALLAH the Almighty will forgive you! Without a shadow of a doubt! ALLAH the Almighty has not created us to destroy us! He created us to honour us!

ALLAH the Almighty says,

“I am as My servant thinks of Me. I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me within himself, I mention him within Myself. If he mentions me before company, I mention him before a greater company. If he draws near to Me a handspan, I draw near to him an arm’s length. If he draws near to Me an arm’s length, I come near to him the distance of outspread arms. If he comes to Me walking, I come to him running.”
(Bukhari and Muslim)

If you make something so magnificent and amazing are you going to make it just to throw it away? OF COURSE NOT!

In the same way my humble readers, ALLAH the Almighty has NOT created us to throw us away in hellfire. He has created every single being whether you are a Muslim or a Non-Muslim, ALLAH the Almighty has created us to honour us and to raise our status in paradise. All we have to do is believe in him as are creator, our master, ascribing no partners to him and if we sin we hurry to rectify that sin by asking for forgiveness.

ALLAH the Almighty says,

“O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as its.” (Tirmidhi)

So my dear humble readers, my message for you today is,

***NEVER LOSE HOPE IN THE MERCY OF ALLAH THE ALMIGHTY.***

When you are alone and crying for help, HE IS THERE!

When you need a friend to talk to, HE IS THERE!

When you want something that no one can give, HE IS THERE

When you want a new start, a new direction in life, HE IS THERE!

When you want guidance, HE IS THERE!

When you are ill and doctors have lost hope, HE IS THERE!

When the people around you say you are worthless, he says NO YOU AINT!

When people knock you down on the ground, HE PICKS YOU UP!

SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Go and turn back to your creator who created you. Go and make him happy. Make amends with your creator. Go and redeem yourself. Go and save your soul and enter into peace and tranquility that everyone is in search for. Repent and turn back to ALLAH the Almighty. The peace and contentment you are looking for that money cannot buy is right under your nose. Repent to ALLAH the Almighty a sincere repentance your heart will be filled with peace and tranquility.

REMEMBER ALLAH THE ALMIGHTY IS NOT IN NEED OF US! WE ARE IN NEED OF HIM!

Our lords majestic pride and greatness will not decrease even the slightest if we turn our backs away from him. It will be us who will be at lost if we do not turn in repentance to him.

Go and attain your paradise. Be the best that you can be by pleasing The best! free your soul from pain and misery.

MY DEAR HUMBLE READERS, GO AND MAKE YOUR PARADISE.

I end by saying all praises are due to ALLAH the Almighty, owner of the heavens and the earth. Peace be upon all the prophets and messengers of ALLAH the Almighty especially upon our master Muhammad (peace and blessings of ALLAH the Almighty be upon him in abundance).

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE MOST KIND THE MOST MERCIFUL

SALUTATIONS BE UPON OUR BELOVED MASTER THE MESSENGER OF ALLAH THE ALMIGHTY IN ABUNDANCE.

My dear respected honourable readers,

As I am sure everyone will agree that the month of Ramadhan is flying away faster than a bird flies away from its cage. The month in which the mercy of ALLAH the Almighty and the forgiveness of ALLAH the Almighty is spread in abundance, the month which outweighs all the other eleven months is slipping away from our hands. We MUST take advantage of the days we have left and try our utmost best not to let even a single second go by without doing some kind of good. All praises are due to ALLAH the Almighty who through his infinite mercy and grace blessed us to see this sacred month.

My dear readers, there are many people who were here last year and are not here today to witness these days. I personally know of people who today have been buried six feet under and have been mixed with dust as they lay in their grave as your reading this post. People who did not even doubt that they will be here to see this month they are the very same people who today have left this world. We have a chance. A chance to repent and rectify our lives and to gain the proximity of ALLAH the Almighty. A chance to make amends with our creator and his creation. A chance to attain peace in this world and in hereafter. We must all regret the hours, minutes and seconds we have wasted in this month however we still got a few more days left to change our book of deeds… To wipe our sins away and to attain the pleasure of our creator.

Abu Hurairah (May ALLAH the Almighty be pleased with him) reports that the messenger of ALLAH the Almighty (peace and blessings be upon him) said;

The five (daily) prayers, and from one Friday prayer to the next, and from Ramadan to Ramadan are expiation for sins committed in between provided one stays away from the major sins. (Al-Bukhari).

It is also mentioned in another Hadith reported by Abu Hurairah (May ALLAH the Almighty be pleased with him) that the messenger of ALLAH the Almighty said;

Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.
(Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

Therefore my dear humble readers, we must exert much effort to reap the benefits and rewards from ALLAH the Almighty for our own salvation. We must try our best to attain rewards but most importantly my humble readers we need to ABSTAIN FROM SINS.

Sins melt our good deeds away just like snow melts on a hot day. A person who does not do many good deeds but stays away from sins is more closer and attains the pleasure of ALLAH in comparison to that person who may do a lot of good deeds but all end in vain due to sinning at the same time.

So my humble readers, few more days are left for us to rectify our souls and to cleanse and drain our souls from all the filth we have drowned it in from the past eleven months. This blessed month is for us to cleanse our soul to attain spirituality and for us to wipe the slate clean. Lets get up and vow to work hard and build our bank balance of the hereafter so that we may have a pleasant time in this world and most importantly a pleasant abode in the hereafter.

Please do remember this writer and the nation (Ummah) of the messenger of ALLAH the Almighty Muhammad (peace and blessings of ALLAH the Almighty be upon him in abundance) and all the people in general in your humble prayers and supplications (Duas). May ALLAH the Almighty unite our hearts and make us one and may ALLAH the Almighty accept our efforts in learning, preaching and in propagating his religion (Deen). Ameen.

I end by saying all praises are due to the Almighty ALLAH, owner of the heavens and the earth. Peace be upon all the prophets and messengers of the Almighty ALLAH especially upon our master Muhammad (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon them all in abundance).

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE MOST KIND THE MOST MERCIFUL

SALUTATIONS OF THE ALMIGHTY ALLAH BE UPON THE BELOVED PROPHET MUHAMMAD (PEACE BE UPON HIM)

ALLAH the Almighty has said in the glorious Quran,

“Those who spend their wealth (in Allah ‘s way) by night and by day, secretly and publicly – they will have their reward with their Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.” (2:274)

The beloved messenger of Almighty ALLAH has mentioned,

“The believers shade on the day of resurrection will be his charity.”

(Al-Tirmidhi)

Who in this world does not want to attain all it’s riches?

Who has attained the world and has no intention to pursue the world anymore?

Who has made their million or billion and does not want anymore?

ANSWER:

NO ONE!!

Whether a person is rich or poor, high class or middle class, each and every one of us wants just that little bit more of luxury in our lives. Be it a fancy car, a new house, an extra holiday, more income, whatever it may be, we all want more than we want or deserve. We run like headless chickens to gain more wealth to secure our present and most of all our future. We will put our health in jeopardy to attain the world.

WHY????

Because we see a reward, a benefit at the end of it and what’s that?….

“THE PAY CHECK!”

Some of us go to such an extent that we even put our bodies at risk such as sleep deprivation because we have just been offered extra hours by our company… “TRIPLE PAY!

We will forgo our meal because we don’t have time to sit and eat a healthy meal because our brain can only process one thought at that time and that is?……

“TIME IS MONEY!”

So we just take a snack or a “energy bar” to give us all the nutrients our body wants and so desperately needs.

Some of us are blinded by the luxuries and money itself that we don’t have time to sit with our families. We don’t have time to bond with our wives or children.

Husband: “Don’t wait up for me dear I have an extra shift today, more shifts equals more money!”

Wife: ” But you promised you will spend time with me and the kids tonight!”

Husband: “I know, I am sorry…. But It’s for our future! Am doing this for you and the kids!”

Is there anything we do not do to make sure we live a comfortable lifestyle?

Of course working towards a better life for oneself and for ones family is an integral part of Islam. A person who works to take care of oneself and ones family attains tremendous amounts of reward but when we lose control of our desires, our purpose in life, our focus which should be the hereafter, then this is of great concern.

Now and then we should take a step back and think of all the priceless bounties that we have. We are very fortunate that we are not tested how others are tested in the world.

When was the last time we woke up having not eaten the night before due to poverty?

When was the last time our throats were dry as the Sahara due no water at our disposal?

When was the last time we went to sleep not knowing how will we survive the next day if we even make it through the night?

O humble readers it is our duty as humans, regardless of our religion, race, gender etc to help those who are in need.

Anas Ibn Malik reports that the prophet of Almighty ALLAH has said,

“None of you will believe until you love for your brother what you love for yourself.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

As humans we are all one. Therefore we should have mutual feelings for each other. We should wish good and nothing but good for each other. Those who we know and even those who we don’t know. All of us want a life free from worry and grief. A life which brings happiness and contentment. A comfortable life where all our needs are met. Just as we want all this and much more for ourselves, on the same token we should wish the same for our neighbours, friends, associates and those who are desperately waiting for our support near and far.

My humble readers, charity is a means of extinguishing poverty and bringing joy to people, giving them a sense of direction in life and hope which they are so desperately yearning for.

There are many forms of charity a person can carry out.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said,

“Charity is prescribed for each descendant of Adam every day the sun rises.” He was then asked: “From what do we give charity every day?” The Prophet answered: “The doors of goodness are. many…
enjoining good, forbidding evil, removing harm from the road, listening to the deaf, leading the blind, guiding one to the object of his need, hurrying with the strength of one’s legs to one in sorrow who is asking for help, and supporting the feeble with the strength of one’s arms–all of these are charity prescribed for you.” He also said: “Your smile for your brother is charity.” – (Fiqh- Us-Sunnah)

As we can see there are many forms of charity most if not all, the above mentioned actions are actions which we all can undertake. In this post I have stressed the importance of giving charity as we know it which is to dig deep in our pockets and to help those in need with the money that Almighty ALLAH has blessed us with.

Yes, my dear humble readers, it is ALLAH the Almighty who has given us this gift that we keep claiming to be our pride and honour. That wealth where we put the word “MY” in front of is the doings of ALLAH the Almighty not by our actions for if it was not for the will of ALLAH the Almighty then how could we earn a living?!

Who gives us health to go out in the mornings or nights to earn a living?

Who gave us fully functioning limbs to carry out the work we do?

ANSWER:

ALMIGHTY ALLAH. THE MOST BENEFICENT THE MOST MERCIFUL!

So my humble readers today we are in the position to give charity so let’s give whole heartedly. A time may come were we be on the receiving end of charity. (May ALLAH the Almighty through his mercy and grace save us from such a situation).

So my dear humble readers, lets all make an intention and bring this intention to life to donate as much as we possibly can to those who are less fortunate than us. If all of us just stretch out our arms that little bit more, to us it may seem a few loose change but it could make all the difference. Our donations be it small can clothe a child, feed the hungry, make a mothers struggle a little bit less stressful, a fathers efforts a little less painful. Our charity may put a smile on a orphan child’s face. It may brighten the future of many young individuals. Our donations can be a cause of helping the sick and old aged people in the times of darkness. Above all, it could well be our “TICKET TO HEAVEN.”

Before I end this post it is my humble request to all of you to donate whatever you can to a charity of your liking and to urge others to do the same.

The messenger of ALLAH the Almighty has said,

“Anyone who has property that exceed his needs, let him support someone whose property does not (meet his or her needs), and anyone whose food exceeds his needs, let him share it with someone who does not have food.” (Fiqh-Us-Sunnah)

I end this post by saying all praises are due to ALLAH the Almighty and peace be upon all his beloved honourable prophets especially our beloved master Muhammad (peace and blessings of ALLAH the Almighty be upon him in abundance).

REPENT2

In the name of ALLAH the most kind the most merciful.

Salutations be upon the beloved messenger of ALLAH Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him in abundance).

ALLAH the Almighty has said in the glorious Qur’an,

“So will they not repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness? And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.” (5:74)

The beloved messenger of ALLAH the Almighty (peace and blessings be upon him) has said,

“The one who repents from sin is like the one who has no sin.” (Ibn Majah)

The Definition of a ‘Sin’.

A sin is an act either said or done by a person contrary to its prescribed manner with regards to a certain religion or the natural displeasure of an existing-being.

This means that a person who follows a religion is compelled by the laws of that religion to stay within its limits and never to exceed the boundaries that have been set. The one who fails to adhere to its rulings has done a great injustice and gone against the laws of that religion resulting in the displeasure of the deity which makes one eligible of incurring a ‘SIN’.

A sin is usually seen to be connected to an action carried out contrary to ones religion. This is in-effect correct yet questionable to restrict it just to this as there are many people who do not have a religion so are they sinless?!

Therefore it is safe to say that even actions that are done contrary to the liking of an ‘existing-being’ not just the human-being is a ‘SIN’ as such an action has gone against the natural forms of happiness causing displeasure and discomfort to another human or an ‘existing-being’ such as an animal. Which in a case of one who follows a religion would be a sin anyway as they have broken the rule of saving other beings from harm.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“There will come a time when holding on to your Iman (belief) will be like holding on to hot coals”

(Thirmidhi)

Today we live in a world which is full of temptation, full of desires and full of sin. It has become very difficult for a person to safe guard oneself from what the world throws towards ones direction. We live in such an era, such a society that promotes ‘New Experiences’ or ‘Living life to the full’ and comments as such. Staying away from the temptations of this world is not as easy as just saying ‘Don’t sin’ or ‘I won’t sin again’ and leaving it to that.

People say the world has changed but the truth is the world has not changed. The world is exactly the same. The sky is the same that was above the heads of all the prophets and our pious predecessors such as the likes of the companions of the beloved prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The earth is the same ground on which the prophets walked on. The companions (May ALLAH the Almighty be pleased with them all) also took steps on this very same earth we roam around in today.

So what has changed?!

ANSWER:

US!!! THE PEOPLE!!!

We as humans have extended our hands to freedom and liberation that today wherever you cross your eyes and wherever you may be, temptations fill the air and atmosphere.

Today we have become advanced in technology. Computers having the best specs and running the best software’s, cars faster than ever, planes lighter than ever, buildings taller than ever seen before. We have changed and catered the planet to fit into our needs rather than us fitting in to its natural being and sufficing with the essentials to get us by.

Without a doubt, we have achieved the peak of excellence when it comes to the materialistic side of the world but at the same time, in addition to the doors of sins that were already present, we have opened new doors to lust, passion, greed and jealousy as never seen before.

So now that sins of every kind engulf us, how do we come out victorious??!

ANSWER:

*THROUGH STRUGGLE AND PERSEVERANCE.*

We must exert much effort first and foremost to refrain from sins and not to go near those acts which will bring about the displeasure of ALLAH the Almighty or the displeasure of any being. As the displeasure of others brings about the displeasure of ALLAH the Almighty.

As mentioned in the previous posts, we all have trials and tribulations of our own. Some of us may be indulged in gambling, others in alcohol. Some of us may be involved in intoxicants others in something else.

The point to always remember is that we are all sinners and we will sin. But the road does not end there. Once we have sinned we need to exert effort first and foremost in wiping that sin away and then carrying on the struggle to be the best being that we can be.

For example, you fall down in a pit of mud, will you stay down and let that be the end of it or will you get up, wipe the mud away, clean yourself and continue undertaking the journey that you were doing before that accident?!

When our clothes get dirty do we leave the stains on our clothes and keep spraying perfume on top of them or will we wash the clothes first then put perfume and nice fragrances on?!

Similarly my dear humble readers, we all sin but we need to wash our garments (i.e. Our souls) first before we put perfume on them. We need to wipe the slate clean. We need to wash our sins by repenting for our mishaps and then put perfume on which in this case is doing good deeds.

The prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings he upon him) has mentioned,

“The one who repents from sin is like the one who has no sin.” (Ibn Majah)

Why? Because he or she has got rid of the traces of that sin and washed away the effects of that sin by repenting.

Let’s take the example of snow!….

When we walk in snow we leave traces of our footprints on the ground. We can tell that someone just a few minutes ago has walked on the same path that we are treading on and those who come after us will acknowledge that someone has treading the path they are on and that being was you. However, when it rains the traces of those footprints are washed away and a person who comes on that very same road after a rainfall will not know that you have or had walked there.

Similarly my dear humble readers, when we sin the effects of that sin are still evident on our souls and they rub off on our character and manners towards one another. Just like walking in the snow we keep walking forward but we are leaving behind footprints (i.e. Evidence of Sins).

Thereafter, when it rains (i.e. When you have repented and the mercy of ALLAH the Almighty comes into play) all our footprints and steps we had taken are washed away in such a way that just as evidence of us walking along that path have vanished, in the same way our sins have been washed away that ALLAH the Almighty makes the angels who write our deeds, our limbs with which we use to sin and also the the place where we carried out the sin forget we ever committed that sin.

My dear humble readers, life is too short. Very short. Yes we all sin. It is in our nature. ALLAH the Almighty has created us in such a way that we are prone to sin and so we will sin. But the problem lies in sinning intentionally and not rectifying the mistake by asking for forgiveness as this is a sign of pride and arrogance which ALLAH the Almighty hates.

We need to turn back to our creator and submit our body and soul to him before it’s too late. We need to cleanse our souls before death reaches our throats.

ALLAH the Almighty is merciful that he don’t care how much we sin.

ALLAH the Almighty says,

‘O son of Adam, as long as you call on to Me, I shall forgive you of what you have done, and think nothing of it. O son of Adam, even if your sins were to reach up to the clouds in the sky, and then you were to ask for My forgiveness, I would forgive you and think nothing of it. O son of Adam, even if you were to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth, and then you were to meet Me after death, not worshipping anything besides Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as the earth.’” (Thirmidhi)

ALLAH the Almighty says in the glorious Quran,

“Indeed good deeds expiate bad deeds” (11:114)

It does not stop here! Not only does ALLAH the Almighty forgive our sins but when we repent ALLAH the Almighty favours us by changing our bad deeds into good deeds. So we all need to repent.

The prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to repent a hundred times a day and he was free from sins. So how many times a day do we need to ask for forgiveness as we are drowning in sin?!

The only thing our creator ALLAH the Almighty wants from us is that we turn back to him in repentance and wipe away our sins. This is for our own good.

A person who does not ask for forgiveness becomes hard-hearted and a wretched individual who cannot see pass his own selfish needs and desires.

*STEPS TO PURIFYING OUR SOULS*

There are four main steps one must take to repent:

1) Stop the sin.

2) Regret deeply and truly for the sin committed.

3) Return to ALLAH the Almighty for forgiveness.

4) Make a strong resolution never to return to that same sin again.

Abu Huraira (May ALLAH the Almighty be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,

“Verily, when the believer commits a sin, a black spot appears upon his heart. If he repents and abandons the sin and seeks forgiveness, his heart will be polished, but if he increases in sin, the blackness increases. That is the covering which Allah has mentioned in his Book: Nay, but on their hearts is a covering because of what they have earned.” (83:14)

(Ibn Majah)

Look around you my humble readers, why do you think that there is so much hatred, violence, corruption, disputes and bloodshed?

Why have people adopted traits worse than animals?

ANSWER:

Because they have failed to repent for there sins.

Today we are alive and have a chance. Let’s grab this chance and earn our paradise. Let’s make the most of our lives by living a life which is in accordance to the teachings of Islam. Let’s change our destiny for the better.

O humble readers, Repent today! Repent!

The past is the past. Change your future!

Ask for forgiveness and keep moving forward in life. Whenever you fall down by sinning don’t worry! Just get up again asking for forgiveness and keep moving on. If you fall again repent again. Keep this cycle running.

I have heard many people complaining,

“What’s the point, I ask for forgiveness and do the same sin again. Then I ask again and I sin again!”

To them I say that ALLAH the Almighty says,

” I do not get tired until you get tired”. (Bukhari)

ALLAH the Almighty uses metaphors for our understanding. Without a shadow of a doubt ALLAH the Almighty is free from all weaknesses.
What is meant by this quote is that as long as we keep asking ALLAH the Almighty for forgiveness he will forgive us. If we get tired asking him we have caused destruction to ourselves as ALLAH the Almighty is always ready to help his servants but we got to call on to him and seek his pardon.

There are many verses in the glorious Qur’an regarding ALLAH the Almighty’s forgiveness, closeness, help and support, forbearance and mercy. I cannot go through all of them in this single post.

But what I will say is that all of us need to repent and keep moving forward. This world will be here after we have departed from it so don’t chase it. Focus on what counts and do the best that you can and be the best that you can be. Let no one tell you any different.

Remember….

The past is tainted but the future is spotless.

So make the most of your life with what you can taking the hereafter into consideration at all times.

I end this post by saying all praises are due to ALLAH the Almighty and peace be upon all his beloved honourable prophets especially our beloved master Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him in abundance).

FREEDOM IN DISGUISE

freedom in disguise

In the name of ALLAH the most kind the most merciful.

Peace be upon the beloved messenger of ALLAH Muhammad Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam.

ALLAH the Almighty has said in the glorious Quran,

“And do not put yourselves into destruction” (2: 195)

In another verse ALLAH the Almighty has said,

“And they wronged us not – but they were [only] wronging themselves.”
(2:57)

The beloved messenger of ALLAH the Almighty, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) has said,

“The world is a prison for a believer and a paradise for a disbeliever.”

(Muslim, Thirmidhi)

A person who is in a prison is restricted from certain things until he leaves the prison and is freed in to society. When one is free that is when he can do those things that he was unable to carry out before. Knowing that he was going to be freed from prison the inmate will not jeopardise his chances of being freed to a world which is more better and meaningful than the one he is in now.

Similarly this world is a prison for a believer due to its laws in comparison to the bounties of the hereafter. A person who does not believe in the commandments of ALLAH the Almighty will have no fear or worry in over stepping the mark and pursuing ones desires even if that results in the displeasure of ALLAH the Almighty. Therefore he has taken this world as his paradise and tries to pursue such a life as if he is going to remain in this world forever.

Many a time people ask,

“Why are there so many restrictions in Islam?”

“Why can’t we do want we want?”

Why?! Why?! Why?!

Firstly as mentioned in the previous posts this world is full of trials and tribulations. If there were no restrictions in this place we call earth, this world itself would be paradise.

Secondly if a person ponders on the legal rulings of Islam, each person will come to the conclusion that ALLAH the Almighty has prohibited certain acts for our own benefit.

Let’s take alcohol for example, ALLAH the Almighty has said in the glorious Qur’an,

They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, “In them is great sin and [yet, some] benefit for people. But their sin is greater than their benefit.” (2:219)

From the above verse we come to know the prohibition of alcohol. ALLAH the Almighty has clearly mentioned that the evil of it outweighs its benefits. In this day and age through modern technology we find that alcohol poses a serious threat to ones health. There are many disadvantages of drinking alcohol.

Effects of alcohol on your body…..

BRAIN:
Alcohol interferes with the brain’s communication pathways, and can affect the way the brain looks and works. These disruptions can change mood and behaviour, and make it harder to think clearly and move with coordination.

HEART:
Drinking a lot over a long time or too much on a single occasion can damage the heart, causing problems including:

Cardiomyopathy – Stretching and drooping of heart muscle
Arrhythmias – Irregular heart beat
Stroke
High blood pressure

LIVER:
Heavy drinking takes a toll on the liver, and can lead to a variety of problems and liver inflammations including:

Steatosis, or fatty liver
Alcoholic hepatitis
Fibrosis
Cirrhosis

PANCREAS:
Alcohol causes the pancreas to produce toxic substances that can eventually lead to pancreatitis, a dangerous inflammation and swelling of the blood vessels in the pancreas that prevents proper digestion.

CANCER:
Drinking too much alcohol can increase your risk of developing certain cancers, including cancers of the:

Mouth
Esophagus
Throat
Liver
Breast

IMMUNE SYSTEM:
Drinking too much can weaken your immune system, making your body a much easier target for disease. Chronic drinkers are more liable to contract diseases like pneumonia and tuberculosis than people who do not drink too much. Drinking a lot on a single occasion slows your body’s ability to ward off infections – even up to 24 hours after getting drunk.

(Taken from NIH- National institute on alcohol abuse and alcoholism)

Clearly we can see that the ill effects of alcohol outweigh the benefits. Thus ALLAH the Almighty has given the verdict of alcohol being a sin and commanded us to refrain from it.

A person who has a lot of alcohol intake starts to vomit, pass out, dehydrate and lose their thinking process as mentioned above. Not to mention the hangover the next morning.

Another example is adultery. Indulging in a relationship full of lust to fulfill ones desires may give a person pleasure for a few minutes but the results of this kind of indulgence can make one ill and in some cases more than often, life threatening. Some illnesses that may be inflicted on a person are:

Chlamydia,
Gonorrhea,
Syphilis,
Genital herpes,
Genital warts,
HIV, Aids etc.

So to save a person from getting these illnesses in the first place we have been instructed to stay away from this act if done against the permitted method i.e. Marriage.

ALLAH the Almighty has set boundaries for our own protection to save us from destruction caused by our own hands. So we may be free from deviance, ignorance and negligence.

Take a look at this world we live in. We have boundaries set in this world as well so that peace can prevail and havoc may subside. If everyone was given permission to do what they want the whole world would be on its knees within minutes.

Imagine a world where there is no restrictions at all. A world where committing a murder is not looked down upon. Imagine if robbery was legalised, what would you claim to be yours and how would you safe guard your belongings?!

Does the world we live in have NO restrictions?!

Just as we have law and order sanctioned by our governments and constitutions, in the same way ALLAH the Almighty has kept boundaries for us so we stay within our roles as servants and we may save ourselves from our own physical and spiritual destruction.

So we have rules in place for our own benefit so we can live in harmony. These boundaries are kept in place so that you and I can LIVE in this world.

So I ask you again my dear readers, are you restricted or do you have freedom?

If a child wants to touch the fire out of curiosity after you repeatedly forbid him from doing so, would you stop the child or let the child carry on?

Of course you would prevent the child for his own good and his own safety. So have you not restricted your child? But at the same time have you not actually given the child freedom by saving him from the pain and agony of feeling the effects of the fire and saved his life so he can LIVE in a safe environment?!

They may be some people who will let the child touch the fire so the child will learn that this is not something to play with and next time the child will keep that in mind and learn from experience.

In the same way ALLAH the Almighty loves us so much that he has kept boundaries for our own salvation. ALLAH the Almighty loves us more than anyone can ever love us. ALLAH the Almighty loves us more than a mother loves her child, after all we are his creation. So just like the child we are cautioned not to cross the boundaries and touch the fire, in this case actions that are forbidden. Sometimes for those who are stubborn we may get a touch of the fire as a result of our ignorance or negligence only to realise its dangers and to turn back to ALLAH the Almighty.

So these laws are kept in place for our benefit and for our safety. Freedom is achieved through these boundaries that are set so we may prosper in this life and also in the hereafter by attaining the pleasure of ALLAH the Almighty and following his commands through the medium and example of the blessed prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The reason for this post my humble readers is that people, muslims and non muslims alike pinpoint the restrictions of Islam and make it out that Islam is a narrow minded religion that does not fit in to this era nor in our society. Obviously this is not the case. Such comments are vacuous comments and due to ones ignorance.

Remember my humble readers, Islam is a way of life and Islam teaches all of us discipline and manners so we may prosper and live side my side in an orderly fashion.

So remember, total freedom is not in following your desires but rather freedom is in subduing your desires and saving yourself from destruction.
We have laws in place to keep us on the straight path so that we don’t sway from side to side and so that we do not fall into the traps of satan and forget our objective of being in this world which is to worship our creator ALLAH the Almighty.

Some of us may attain total freedom in this world despite all the restrictions imposed on us due to understanding why the laws are laid down in the first place and implementing those acts which we are supposed to do and refraining from those acts which we are forbidden from.

All of us will attain total freedom in the hereafter if we try to free ourselves from sins in this world.

Learn to be humble and subservient to your creator, you will find peace in your heart and mind. When that becomes a reality you have achieved total freedom.

I end this post by saying, all praises are due to ALLAH the Almighty and peace be upon all his beloved honourable prophets especially our beloved master Muhammad Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam.

anger

In the name of ALLAH the most kind the most merciful.

Peace be upon the beloved messenger of ALLAH Muhammad Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam.

ALLAH the Almighty has said in the glorious Qur’an,

“And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord and a garden as wide as the heavens and earth, prepared for the righteous. Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people-and Allah loves the doers of good”.  (3:133-134)

Abu Hurairah (May ALLAH the Almighty be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of ALLAH (peace be upon him) said:

“The strong man is not the one who is strong in wrestling, but the one who controls himself in anger.”  (Bukhari, Muslim)

As mentioned in the previous posts there are many emotions a person experiences in ones life. Sometimes a person is happy, sometimes sad. Sometimes a person is in a good mood and another time the same person is in a bad mood. There are many ways a person expresses oneself.

As our life passes by, each step of the way there is some kind of feeling that we feel and everyone reacts differently in every given situation. In some cases we all act the same.
For example, when a beloved one passes away the feeling that all of us feel is sadness. So the common feeling/emotion in this particular situation is sadness. You yourself feel sad and hurt when a funeral of a beloved one takes place and so does a person across the globe who you don’t even know. They too feel the same emotion that you feel.

The phrase “freedom of expression” comes to mind. This means a person can express oneself however and whenever one feels like. But in reality this is not the case because there is only a certain limit a person can express oneself. A person is restricted in unleashing ones expressions in its entirety.
Why?! Because some expressions can lead to a person harming oneself and also those around him or her such as rage and anger.

Anger is one of the emotions that can lead a person to do something he or she may later regret. Anger is an emotion if not tamed can lead to self destruction and loss of sanity. Anger is half of insanity if not all.
Why?! Because when a person is overcome with anger and their emotions get the better of them, they make wrong decisions, decisions that later on they will most likely regret and in some cases due to this insane behaviour it leads one to do something that can no longer be mended. If there is a possibility to put the pieces back together then it will take a lot of work and determination and even then things will never be the same such as divorce, aggression that leads to violence and in some cases murder and the likes of such atrocious acts.

ALLAH the Almighty has made it clear in the verse mentioned above that anger is not a pleasant emotion. abandoning this evil emotion brings about the mercy of ALLAH the Almighty and a person is able to carry out good actions resulting in the pleasure of ALLAH and HIS love.

One is to love someone and the other is to be loved. If a person loves someone this a good thing but to make the jigsaw fit in its place the one you love has to love you back. Loving someone is not a great thing if that person don’t love you back. The great thing is when the person you love, loves you back. So those of us who are Muslims we say and claim we love ALLAH the Almighty, that is indeed a great thing but greater than that is when our creator proclaims in the heavens and the earth that he loves us.

To make ALLAH the Almighty love us we have to follow his commands and the commands and teachings of his beloved messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

In the above Hadith the beloved prophet Muhammad ( peace and blessings of ALLAH the Almighty be upon him) has made a contrast between the one who releases ones anger and the one who subdues his anger. It has always been the case that a person who is physically more big and broad than another is deemed to be stronger than his opponent. This may be so but the messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings be upon him) has said that a person who is stronger than his opponent is not stronger than the one who can control his anger. Why?
Because if you are stronger than your opponent and beat him down you have not accomplished a great victory because it was inevitable. The poor opponent didn’t stand a chance! However the strong person is he when he gets angry and has the ability to get angry at those who are weaker than him like ones child, manages to control their anger and extinguish it quickly, though he may have had the right to get angry.

Anger is such an evil emotion to posses that it takes a person away from good qualities and makes one behave like an animal and it some cases even worse than animals.

Anger and aggression is a demon that is inside every human being whether you are a muslim or a non-muslim, a practising muslim or not, anger is in all of us.

The question that arises here then is,

“If anger is an emotion we all are built with, why do we have to fight it and why is it seen as an evil act?

ANSWER:

One must remember at all times that this world is a test for us. A test to see who will defeat their demons and obtain the pleasure of ALLAH the Almighty in doing so. Survival of the fittest!

In an practical exam a person will not be asked to do acts and overcome hurdles that he can do without even giving it much thought. Different people in the world are tested differently depending on their ability and the level they are on. For example, if a person can run a 100 metres without any difficulty would you test him or her to see if they can run 50 metres? Of course you wouldn’t! Where’s the test in that?! You would test them on 150 or 200 metres to see if they can do it. You will take them out of their comfort zone and see if they succeed or fail.

Similarly we as humans are tested. We are taken out of our comfort zone to reach our goal and attain our reward which is paradise, and paradise don’t come cheap! That’s why we have all these different emotions and we have been given the ability to use these emotions when we feel it is fit to do so. It is in our discretion. This does not mean we are always right when we exploit these emotions if we were always right then again where’s the test in that?!

I would like to mention here that the way us humans are made to function is amazing and a proof that ALLAH the Almighty does exist as no other can create such an amazing, mind blowing, beautiful creation with all it’s different mechanisms.

Studying the human anatomy and the way the human body functions, if a person ponders upon this they will definitely come to a conclusion that this cannot be the doings of a human whose intellect is limited nor could this universe just have exploded and evolved.
Indeed this is the doings and the creativity of a being who is full of knowledge, full of wisdom, intellect and much more. Words cannot describe this being. This is the doings of ALLAH the Almighty!

Look around you, you will find ALLAH the Almighty there. Look at the world and it’s beauty. The trees, the animals, the mountains, pyramids, forests, the horizon, space. Has this really just formed all by its own without a maker? Without a creator?! Can a wooden arm chair be made without wood?! Can paper be produced without the use of trees?!

Look where ever you want, your eyes, your minds and your hearts will be mesmerised and if a person really ponders just on the beauty of this world alone, believing in ALLAH the greatest of all will not be an option.
One will definitely become subservient to his master.

GLORY BE TO ALLAH THE GREAT!

Nevertheless, each and every individual is born with many emotions, many talents and many “Built in software” as I would like to call it! Some people just tend to have a “short fuse” and this is their test. Some people are tested with having anger, some people are tested with poverty, others are tested with an illness. Everyone has their own test and must learn to pass the test and defeat the obstacles in the way.

One has to learn to tame these emotions, especially the negative emotions such as anger because anger is an illness, a spiritual illness, if it is not tamed it become a disease like cancer and takes over the whole body i.e. the soul, leaving the heart to rot and the light (Noor) of islam will not penetrate ones heart causing one to become hard hearted. Eventually ones soul will die and the doors of attaining virtue will be hard to open, ones interest in reality of what’s to come will be diminished. kindness, compassion, sensitivity all these emotions will be far fetched from a person and this person will become insensitive, unappreciative, lack of care towards others will creep up on him and others around him will find no comfort in his or hers presence.

A person has indeed been given emotions that are negative and harmful to ones being and ones soul but the test is in pressing down on the urges, not to release the ill emotions and at the same time to replace them with good and pleasant emotions.

Everyone who drives a car knows that it is easy to make the car go fast, one has to only press on to the acceleration and automatically the car will pick up speed. However this is not the amazing thing. The amazing thing is when a person going at such a fast speed has the ability to CONTROL the car and make sure he or she does not have an accident. On the same token all of us at some point get angry, there is nothing wrong in getting angry. The problem is when the anger takes over a persons conscious and due to this emotion taking over a persons mind and soul, one harms oneself and those around them. Just like driving a car fast is not the amazing thing, getting angry or using it to ones advantage is not an amazing thing. Getting angry and then CONTROLLING the anger is an amazing and an astonishing ability to posses just like CONTROLLING a car when going at a high speed.

So is it worth getting angry?

Is it worth loosing ones mind, family and close associates over something small which has been taken out of proportion due to anger?!

Is anger really the solution?

Is there really any benefit in getting angry and in exercising ones anger?

O dear readers of this blog, next time you get angry take a moment and think of the consequences. Is it practical or can you tackle the situation with another more lighter approach. Like i have mentioned earlier we all get angry but the one who controls his or hers anger is the one who has attained victory over ones inner-self not to mention having saved ones self from humiliation, stress, worry, anxiety, high blood pressure and all the other possible damages it can do to ones body. If anger can be a cause of bad health issues then what must it be doing to the soul which is must delicate and more fragile than the body?! One can only imagine!

I leave you with a few prescriptions of the beloved messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings be upon him) when someone does get angry. Try this, by ALLAH the words of the messenger have no scope of falsehood in them! Take these prescriptions with you and implement them in your lives and give it to those who may need it……

Two men began hurling insults at one another in the presence of the Prophet (peace be upon him), each one insulting the other with such anger that his face had turned red. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,

“I know a word that if one were to say it, what stresses him would go away. If he would but say: ‘I seek refuge with Allah from Satan the Accursed’.”(Bukhari, Muslim)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) advised us not to speak when we are angry. He said,

“If one of you gets angry, he should be quiet.”   (Musnad Ahmad)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave us other practical advice. He said,

“If one of you gets angry and he is standing, then he should sit down until his anger subsides. If it does not, then he should lie down.”

(Abu Dawood)

The messenger of ALLAH the Almighty (peace and blessings be upon him) also has said,

“Anger is from Satan, and Satan was created from fire. Fire is but extinguished by water, so if one of you gets angry, he should perform wudû (ablution).”

(Abu Dawood, Musnad Ahmad)

Act upon these Aha’deeth (prophetic sayings), when you become angry. Seek refuge from satan and just remain silent! Take A break, go in a another room, remain silent as opening the mouth is the root of all the events that may unfold resulting in a person having to regret opening ones mouth in the first place.

If one is full of range and anger then one should change ones position. If one is standing, sit down. If one is sitting down lie down. If one is still angry one should cool ones self down by doing wudhu (ablution).

Don’t let your anger control you. Make sure you control your anger!

Ali Ibn Abi Talib (May ALLAH the Almighty be pleased with him) once said,

“A moment of patience in a moment of anger prevents a thousand moments of regret.”

I end this post by saying all praises are due to ALLAH the Almighty and peace be upon all his beloved honourable prophets especially our beloved master Muhammad Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam.

THE VALUE OF TIME

The_Value_of_Time

In the name of ALLAH the most kind the most merciful.

Peace be upon the beloved messenger of ALLAH Muhammad Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam.

ALLAH the Almighty has mentioned a whole chapter regarding time,

“By the oath of time, indeed man is in loss, except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to the truth and advised each other to patience.”

Abdullah Ibn Abbas (may the Almighty ALLAH be pleased with him narrated that Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) said:

“There are two blessings which many people lose: (They are) health and free time for doing good.” (Bukhari)

Everyone who comes into this world comes with a limit of time. A time schedule that is unknown to him or her. Time is such a thing that does not wait for anyone. Time is a gift, a forgotten gift by many people. Many of us take time for granted, we misuse its existence even though we know time is something which is priceless.

There are:

60 seconds in a minute
3600 seconds in an hour
86400 seconds in a day
604800 seconds in a week
2419200 seconds in a month (4 weeks)
31536000 seconds in a year (365 days)

GLORY BE TO ALLAH THE GREAT!

How many seconds have we lived for?! Countless! How many seconds have we valued? A Handful if that! How many seconds have we wasted?

Every second you and I get is priceless. ALLAH the Almighty has revealed a whole chapter in the Glorious Quran regarding time.

Such a chapter that Imam Shaafi’ee (may ALLAH the Almighty be pleased with him) is famous for having said that if only ALLAH the Almighty had revealed this Surah in the entire Quran then it would have been sufficient for the guidance of all mankind.

In the first verse ALLAH the Almighty say,

” BY THE OATH OF TIME”….

Those who are familiar with the lexical terms of the Arabic language and who have studied the Glorious Quran will know that ALLAH the Almighty, the lord of the heavens and the earth is taking an oath. An oath to grab our, the readers attention. ALLAH the Almighty is addressing us showing that he has something important to tell us. Something of great benefit. Those who listen will be successful and those who disregard his statement will be doomed. In this verse ALLAH the Almighty is showing us the importance of time. That is why ALLAH the Almighty mentions in the second verse,

” INDEED MAN IS IN LOSS”.

Man has failed to acknowledge the true existence of time and how valuable and precious time really is.
Time is of the essence. Time is valuable and many people are in loss because they don’t appreciate this gift we call time.

In the third verse ALLAH the Almighty says,

“EXCEPT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BELIEVED AND DONE RIGHTEOUS DEEDS AND ADVISED EACH OTHER TO THE TRUTH AND ADVISED EACH OTHER TO PATIENCE”.

Here we learn every single person is at loss except four kinds of people,

1) “EXCEPT FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BELIEVED”…

Those who have believed in the oneness of ALLAH the Almighty. His existence, his power, his might.
And with this who are “complete believers” ie in addition also believe as the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as the servant and final messenger of ALLAH the Almighty, his angels, his books, all his prophets (peace be upon them all), the day of judgement, whatever good or bad happens by the will and power of ALLAH the beneficent and in the life after death.

2) …”AND DONE RIGHTEOUS DEEDS”…

This part of the verse is referring to those who have deeds, Good deeds, good deeds that are commendable and done according to the way ALLAH the Almighty and his beloved messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) have prescribed as there are many “Good Deeds” a person can do however, if they are done contrary to the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah (Prophetic way) a person will not reap an atoms worth of benefit! For example offering salah with ostentation, looking down at others who may not do as much worship than you and so forth.

3) … ” AND ADVISED EACH OTHER TO THE TRUTH”….

This part of the verse is extremely crucial which many of us are heedless about!

Many of us have this perception knowingly or unknowingly that as long as I am on the truth doing good deeds, perfecting my actions, accumulating a lot of rewards for my own hereafter, doing what I know and think is best no matter how others are, whether they are Muslims or not, on the straight path or not, that is no concern to me as long as I can save my own back! This kind of attitude regretfully is in many of us!
To state a fact there is no room for such selfishness in Islam. Selfishness does not exist in Islam. Selfishness is a trait that should not exist in a Muslim! Being selfish and caring just about oneself is an act contrary to the teachings of ALLAH the Almighty and his beloved messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Yes one Must exert effort to save oneself from destruction and attain the pleasure of ALLAH but the journey does not finish here.

ALLAH the Almighty has mentioned in the Quran,

“O you who believe save yourselves and your family from the Hellfire whose fuel is men and stones”.
(Quran 66:6)

One has to save ones family, friends and associates as well. Show them to the truth. Spread the truth. Guide them to the light, to the path of self rectification, here is where the journey begins!

4) ..AND ADVISED EACH OTHER TO PATIENCE”.

Patience is the opposite of hastiness. Patience is a blessing just like time. Many people may claim they are patient but being patient in times when one is in desperation to gain something this is “True Patience!”

One must not merely implement this attribute in ones life but also propagate this attribute however one can get the message across. Be in through words or by actions.

So we can see here O humble readers, time is passing us by. Every second that goes pass we are getting closer to our graves, our resting place for some time which will be dark, cold and a lonely place. Lets take this blessing we have and do the best that we can. Lets make each day count. In fact lets make each second count!

Lets build, beauty, furnish, decorate our paradise with the time that we have by doing Good Deeds, deeds that will be our ticket to paradise!

Remember O humble readers, in paradise they will be no remorse, no grief, no sadness, no heartache. Paradise will be a place full of joy, happiness and contentment however each dweller of paradise will regret one thing, and that is the time he or she did not spend in the remembrance of ALLAH the Almighty. One will regret the time wasted in this world. One will wish they had glorified the creator more, to attain even more luxuries and comfort in the eternal abode of bliss that we call paradise!

O humble readers, please do not waste them. Make use of this blessing as we will have to give and account of the times we had misused in this world.

*TODAY IS THE TOMORROW YOU WERE WORRIED ABOUT YESTERDAY!*

I pray to ALLAH the Almighty that he accept my efforts in delivering this message and I pray to ALLAH the Almighty that he accept your efforts in listening to this message and that he the creator of all rewards me for my posts and rewards you O humble readers for reading my posts and that he the Almighty ALLAH accepts it as time spent wisely.

All praises are due to ALLAH the Almighty and peace be upon all his beloved honourable prophets especially our beloved master Muhammad Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam.

THE BLESSED MONTH OF MUHARRAM

In the name of ALLAH the most kind the most merciful.

Peace be upon the beloved messenger of ALLAH Muhammad Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam.

ALLAH the Almighty has said in the glorious Qur’an,

“Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months (in a year), so it was ordained by Allah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them, four are sacred. That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein.” (9:36)

Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The year is twelve months of which four are sacred, the three consecutive months of Dhu’l-Qa’dah, Dhu’l-Hijjah and Muharram, and Rajab Mudar which comes between Jumaada and Sha’baan.
(Bukhari)

The month of Muharram is the first month in the Islamic calendar. A month that is sacred hence the name of the month. ALLAH the Almighty has mentioned in the above verse of the glorious Quran,

“So wrong not yourselves therein”.

This means do not sin in these months as sinning in these months is worse than in other months. One must exert much effort to do good deeds. Just as sins are multiplied good deeds are multiplied as well.

A’shuraa is an arabic word, its root letters being Ashr which means ten. One meaning of A’shuraa is ‘tenth’. This is used for the 10th of Muharram to indicate its significance.

THE HISTORY OF A’SHURAA

Abdullah Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to Madinah and saw the Jews fasting on the day of ‘Ashura’. He said, ‘What is this?’ They said, ‘This is a righteous day, it is the day when Allah saved the Children of Israel from their enemies, so Musa fasted on this day.’ He said, ‘We have more right to Musa than you,’ so he fasted on that day and commanded [the Muslims] to fast on that day.”
(Bukhari)

Many spectacular events have take place in the past on this blessed day one of them being the prophet Musa (peace be upon him) and his men being saved from Firoun (pharaoh).

It is mentioned by Mulla Ali Al-Qaari in his commentary on Mishkaatul-Masaabeeh that ALLAH the Almighty had honoured ten prophets on this day; hence, the word A’shuraa was used specifically for the tenth day of Muharram. The ten prophets (peace be upon them all) are as follows:

1) PROPHET MUSA (PEACE BE UPON HIM)

On this day ALLAH the almighty saved Prophet Musa (peace be upon him)and his followers from pharaoh by commanding the Red Sea to split open so that they could pass through safely. Pharaoh and his army were drowned in the same ocean.

2) PROPHET NUH (PEACE BE UPON HIM)

When the floods subsided, the ship of Prophet Nuh bearing himself and about eighty of his followers came to rest on Mt. Ararat in Eastern Turkey. They all disembarked in safety.

3) PROPHET YUNUS (PEACE BE UPON HIM)

On the day of A’shuraa Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) was delivered from the belly of the gigantic fish that had swallowed him, after spending three days therein.

4) PROPHET ADAM (PEACE BE UPON HIM)

On this sacred day ALLAH the Almighty accepted the repentance of the father of mankind.

5) PROPHET YUSUF (PEACE BE UPON HIM)

Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him) was rescued from the well in which his brothers had thrown him. At that stage he was only seven years of age.

6) PROPHET ISA (PEACE BE UPON HIM)

This great Messenger of ALLAH was born on the 10thMuharram and on this day was he raised up to the heavens.

7) PROPHET DAWOOD (PEACE BE UPON HIM)

ALLAH the Almighty accepted his repentance on this day, after he had issued a verdict between two parties which was fair and just, but was not of the standard expected from him by ALLAH the Almighty.

8) PROPHET AYYOOB (PEACE BE UPONHIM)

On this day ALLAH the Almighty granted him total cure from a skin disease that lasted for eighteen years.

9) PROPHET YA’QOOB (PEACE BE UPON HIM)

On this day ALLAH the Almighty gave him back his sight after he had become blind due to excessive crying over the loss of his beloved son: Prophet Yusuf (peace be upon him).

10) PROPHET SULAIMAN (PEACE BE UPON HIM)

ALLAH the Almighty granted him a kingdom which no one before nor after enjoyed: he ruled over man and jinn, over the wind, the birds, and the mountains.

FASTING IN THE MONTH OF MUHARRAM

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Fasting the day of ‘A’shuraa’ (is of great merits), I hope that Allaah will accept it as an expiation for the previous year.” (Muslim)

Abdullah Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: “I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) so keen to fast any day and give it priority over any other than this day, the day of ‘Ashura’, and this month, meaning Ramadhan.” (Bukhari)

SUPEREROGATORY PRAYERS IN THE MONTH OF MUHARRAM

Abu Hurairah (may the Almighty ALLAH be pleased with him) reported: “I asked the Prophet : ‘Which prayer is the best after the obligatory prayers?’ He said: ‘Prayer during the middle of the night.’ I asked: ‘Which fast is the best after the fast of Ramadan?’ He said: ‘The month of ALLAH that you call Muharram.’”

(Muslim, Ahmad and Abu Daawood)

DO NOT BE MISLEAD

Many Fabricated acts are being done that have no basis in Islam. One must not be deceived by others. One must follow the Quran and Sunnah (prophetic way) to its entirety.

Acts the likes of not eating meat in this month, one cannot get married in this month, one must wear black in this month, one must mourn the dead in this month, one must mourn the death of Hussain (may ALLAH be pleased with him) the grandson of the beloved prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and other pious people, one must cause harm to oneself in the name of Hussain (may ALLAH the Almighty be pleased with him)- the grandson of the beloved prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). All these and much more have NO BASIS IN ISLAM!

MAKE A CHANGE!

O humble readers, this month we have is a blessed month. A month of great significance. Let not this opportunity slip from our hands. Today we are here tomorrow we won’t be. Lets make today count.
Everyday that ALLAH the Almighty gives us is a significant day, a day to reap rewards and taste it’s fruits in the hereafter. These special days we have prescribed by ALLAH the Almighty are for us to gain his proximity. The way we act and behave in these special months is the way we should be throughout the year, not just on these days.

This month is Our New Year! A month full of blessings. One should make “New Year Resolutions” to gain the pleasure of ALLAH to refrain from sin, to be dutiful to ones parents, to achieve success in both worlds, to be punctual at work, to be punctual for the five daily prayers. Whatever it is! Utilise these days to bring changes in ones life. Changes for the better!

One must make and effort to fast on the ninth and tenth, or tenth and eleventh day of Muharram.

One should try ones best to offer as many supererogatory prayers as one can. If one cannot then one should at least refrain from sins as staying away from sins is a Must for everyone.

One must not be deceived by doing many supererogatory acts to be of high status nor should one defame another if they do not do the supererogatory acts like fasting and offering extra prayers.

One should not be deceived by doing a lot of worship yet sinning at the same time.

A person who does none or little supererogatory acts yet refrains from sins is the one who is closer to ALLAH the Almighty.

Yes do as much good deeds as you can. Gather the rewards and keep hold of them. Do not let them go by disobeying the commands of ALLAH the Almighty and his beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

MAKE YOUR PARADISE O READERS! MAKE YOUR PARADISE!

I end this post by saying all praises are due to ALLAH the Almighty and peace be upon all his beloved honourable prophets especially our beloved master Muhammad Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam.

LEARN TO FORGIVE!

In the name of ALLAH the most kind the most merciful.

Peace be upon the beloved messenger of ALLAH Muhammad Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam.

ALLAH the sublime has mentioned in this glorious Qur’an,

“They should rather pardon and overlook. Would you not love Allah to forgive you? Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Qur’an, 24:22)

Abdullah bin Umar (may ALLAH be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of ALLAH said:

“The Merciful One shows mercy to those who are themselves merciful (to others). So show mercy to whatever is on earth, then He who is in heaven will show mercy to you”  ( Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi )

There are many feelings a person feels throughout one’s life on a daily basis. Sometimes pleasure sometimes pain, sometimes happiness, other times anger. All these emotions are a way a person expresses oneself.

Sometimes people may say something out of love, care or thoughtfulness and sometimes out of jealousy or spite. One must remember that each and every person will have to give and account of ones deeds, good or bad.

Islam is a peaceful religion. A religion that is known for spreading and propagating peace and security for all the people to the extent of showing kindness and affection to animals. That’s why the way one feels towards another fellow human being will be judged and justice will be sought.

For some it is easy to keep a grudge with someone. Grudges, conflicts, unresolved issues are very common in this era that we live in. So much so that one does not even acknowledge that one has a grudge with someone let alone acknowledging it to be a sin.

Sometimes issues, unresolved issues in our lives escalate so much that the matter goes out of control and people are hurt mentally, emotionally and sometimes even physically.

People with a sound mind will agree that it is your own actions that mould your life the way it is.

Sometimes arguments, fights, disputes can be avoided if the “RIGHT ACTIONS” are taken to solve the issue.

One way to discontinue inappropriate acts, acts that lead to abuse and violence is to FORGIVE.

FORGIVE THE ONE WHO HAS WRONGED YOU.

Forgiveness is an act that by a large number of people is misunderstood. Forgiving someone is not merely taking no action towards the one who has wronged you. Forgiveness is removing the ill feeling from your heart and never to bring that topic up again. People say “forgive and forget” but I say “forgetting is a form of forgiving” because many people proclaim they have forgiven a person, yet when something goes wrong down the line for a second time they remind the one who done wrong of his or her previous fault. A fault that you claim you have forgiven.

This is a very delicate and an important point and I would like you humble readers to understand!

A crucial part of forgiving that not many people exercise is never to bring the topic up again.

Let me make this clear, If some one does something bad to you, after a while you have found it in your heart to let it go then when things get tough you should not bring the same topic up for discussion again for that means you have not forgiven that individual a sincere forgiveness.
For if you did you would not bring it up again.

Yes, sometimes events happen that one cannot forget. Not forgetting is not a crime but digging the past up is.

For example two people had a problem that they resolved. They claim they have forgiven each other yet when another problem arises for No reason the past is brought up by one of them. This shows that one has not wiped the slate clean. Forgiving is wiping the slate clean. Erasing the evil act that caused the distance, the fights, the arguments in the first place and closing that chapter never to be reopened again.

As mentioned before there are two rights, rights of ALLAH the Almighty and rights of his creation. The latter is more difficult to succeed in as it involves the third party i.e the humans or animals.

Forgiveness is a trait that has been lost in this day and age. The prophet (peace be upon him) whom we all should be following forgave many people who had wronged him. Countless narrations have been recorded in numerous authentic books about his soft nature and forgiveness towards people.

Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) traveled to the city of Taif, a city near Makkah, in order to invite its inhabitants to Islam. As the beloved messenger of ALLAH started proclaiming the oneness of ALLAH the Almighty the people of this city despised him for this and started pelting the blessed prophets body so much so that his footwear was filled with blood that was gushing out from his body. The force of the stones were such that the prophet (peace be upon him) ran to seek refuge and finally he came to an orchard and found safety therein.
As he was there in the orchard, beaten more than one can tolerate, all alone, no one by his side, out numbered he called out to his creator,

“O ALLAH to You I complain of my weakness, lack of resources and humiliation before these people. You are the Most Merciful, the Lord of the weak and my Master. To whom will You consign me? To one estranged, bearing ill will, or an enemy given power over me? If You do not assign me any worth, I care not, for Your favor is abundant upon me. I seek refuge in the light of Your countenance by which all darkness is dispelled and every affair of this world and the next is set right, lest Thy anger should descend upon me or Your displeasure light upon me. I need only Your pleasure and satisfaction for only You enable me to do good and evade the evil. There is no power and no might but You.”

At this moment ALLAH the Almighty
sent the angel of the mountains to seek the permission of the beloved prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) to crush the people of Ta’if between the two mountains. The prophet (peace be upon him) without a second thought, without even considering this act that he can take, refused this option and said,

“No! For, I hope that ALLAH will bring forth from their loins people who will worship God alone, associating nothing with Him.” (Saheeh Muslim)

GLORY BE TO ALLAH THE GREAT!

O beloved readers, look at the mercy and forgiveness of the beloved prophet of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him).
At this moment in his life had he chose to destroy the inhabitants of this city no one would have raised a finger. Who would tolerate such atrocious behaviour?!
But the mercy of this blessed pure soul (peace be upon him) overcame him. His love and compassion for the people overcame him. Such was the characteristics of the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that we all desperately need to adopt.

Why is it my brothers and sisters that we cannot look over each others faults?

Why is it we cannot forgive our brothers, sisters, children, parents, neighbours, associates?

Remember O readers, forgive others and ALLAH the Almighty will forgive you.

One should always forgive others.
We all make mistakes. None of us is perfect. Let it not be we depart from this world having a grudge or ill-feelings towards another fellow human being. Let it not be that it takes a death for us to realize that forgiving is far more better, more safer and a more pleasant option.

Many a time people have grudges, disputes, family disputes, unresolved arguments that last for decades only to find out that the person who they did not talk to for so many years has passed away. Be it your brother, your sister, a colleague or even in this day and age your mother or your father. But then it is too late. Too late to resolve the matter and make amends. Let this not be the case.

If and when problems can be avoided avoid them. When problems arise solve them in the best of manners.
All the answers to our problems, wants and needs are in the Glorious Qur’an and in the prophetic teachings of our master Muhammad (peace be upon him). Study the life of the greatest man to have lived on this earth, study Islam, study the lives of the companions of the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon them all)
You will find the answers that you desperately are in search for.
Islam is a way of life. A path to success, follow the straight path and attain success in both worlds.

FORGIVE! FORGIVE! FORGIVE! AND ALLAH THE ALMIGHTY WILL FORGIVE YOU!

I end this post with a beautiful saying
of our beloved messenger of ALLAH Muhammad (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him),

Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may ALLAH the Almighty be pleased with him) narrates that the messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings be upon him always) said,

“I am the leader of a house in Paradise. I guarantee a house in Jannah (Paradise) for one who gives up arguing, even if he is in the right; and I guarantee a house in the middle of Jannah for one who abandons lying even for the sake of fun; and I guarantee a house in the highest part of Jannah for one who has good manners”.

(Abu Dawood)

All praises are due to ALLAH the Almighty and peace be upon all his beloved honourable prophets especially our beloved master Muhammad Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam.

RIGHTS IN ISLAM!

In the name of ALLAH the most kind the most merciful.

Peace be upon the beloved messenger of ALLAH Muhammad Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam.

ALLAH the sublime states in the Quran,

O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you“….. (4:59)

There are Two “Rights” a person owes in Islam

1) Rights of ALLAH the Almighty.

2) Rights of the Servants of ALLAH the Almighty.

1) Rights of ALLAH the Almighty.

A person has to obey the commands of ALLAH the Almighty and his beloved messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) at all times.
Whatever ALLAH and his beloved messenger have told us to do we have to obey.

The five pillars of islam:

1) SHAHAADAH:
To testify in the oneness of ALLAH the almighty and the beloved messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) to be the servant and final messenger of ALLAH the almighty.

2) SALAAH:
The five daily obligatory prayers

3) SAWM:
To fast in the holy month of Ramadhan.

4) ZAKAAH:
The obligatory charity to the poor.

5) HAJJ:
The sacred pilgrimage a person has to take to Makkah and Madinah atleast once in one’s life.

These five pillars of islam are the foundation, a framework in which each muslim has to adhere to.
Whatever ALLAH the almighty and his beloved prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) have told us to do we must do. All the acts we have been prohibited to do must be prevented.

2) Rights of the servants of ALLAH The Almighty.

By the word “Servants” of ALLAH the Almighty this includes Muslims and Non-Muslims alike because all of us are the servants of ALLAH the Greatest. The difference is some of us have acknowledged it and some of have not yet acknowledged it!

In the glorious Quran and Hadith, it has been mentioned in several different places the rights of people. The way we should converse with one other, dealings with one another, how to live and socialise with one another, our conduct and behaviour with one another and even marital issues have been addressed.

For example ALLAH the Almighty has said in the glorious Quran,

“O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one’s] faith. And whoever does not repent – then it is those who are the wrongdoers”. (49:11)

On the authority of Abu Hamzah Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) – the servant of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) – that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said :

“None of you will believe until you love for your brother what you love for yourself.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)

As you can see there are clear texts regarding ones conduct and how to be a good person. There is no place for wretchedness and despicable behaviour in Islam. This is what many of us have misunderstood.

Many of us are under the impression that praying five times a day makes us a “perfect” believer. Wearing the Islamic clothing makes us a “full time” believer yet taking care of our conduct and manners with one another is of no importance.

Many of us have forgotten our spiritual well being, our internal affairs and just focussing on the external being, whether it is our appearance or external actions.

One point I would like you O dear readers is to always remember this point,

*If you are slacking in the rights of ALLAH the Almighty it is hoped with conviction that ALLAH the Almighty will forgive you!..
However if you slack and take no notice in the rights of people then ALLAH the Almighty will not forgive you UNTIL you ask the person who you have hurt to forgive you!*

Each and everyone of us should look at ourselves and see how much water we are in.

How many of us are there that pray supererogatory Prayers everyday but don’t treat our parents, partners, elders, children or anyone else in society the way we should?

How many of us are there that will keep supererogatory fasts but have jealousy and hatred for one another.

How many of us will wake up for the voluntary night prayer (Tahajjud) yet deceive others in business and transaction?

(I have not compared ones actions to
Those actions that are binding upon the believers like the five daily prayers because every muslim knows
They are incumbent upon us and I hope and pray that every believer offers the obligatory actions!)

People have forgotten the importance Islam has given to people. The way we should be with one another, caring, loving, showing affection, all of this has been lost and replaced with hatred, envy, malice and jealousy.

The companions of the beloved prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of the Almighty ALLAH be upon him and them all) were ready to sacrifice their lives for the sake of their fellow Muslim brothers and sisters and we cannot even sacrifice a loaf of bread to give to our neighbours when they ask for it.

There are two people:

The first person is he who prays supererogatory prayers ( I will not say the five daily prayers as these are incumbent on everyone) , keeps voluntary fasts, wears the Islamic clothing but cheats people in business, uses vulgar language and/or oppresses those under him/her.

The second person is he who does not pray supererogatory prayers, just offers the obligatory prayers, only fasts in the month of Ramadhan, does the minimum requirement of the rights of ALLAH the almighty and his beloved prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of ALLAH the Almighty be upon him) but at the same time is loving, caring, people know him due to his excellent conduct, very honest, truthful and always there to help those in need…

Who do you think out of the two is the Friend of ALLAH the Almighty???

Of course the second person is the one who will gain proximity to the Almighty ALLAH.

Treating people with respect and showing manners towards other fellow human beings and also animals is just as important than offering the five daily prayers and fasting in the month of Ramadhan but unfortunately we have deemed the rights of the servants of ALLAH as something beyond the minimal expectations of Islam.

O readers take this message and spread it far and wide so that the Muslims and Non-Muslims alike can wake up from their slumber and gain the correct knowledge of Islam and inject it in their daily lives the way it should be.

It is imperative to mention that after mere contemplation one can see that rights of the servants of ALLAH is an integral part of Islam and an identity of a believer not just a “Bonus” that if a person has it, it is commendable and if not then no harm is done.

Having manners and being kind to others brings about the mercy of ALLAH the Almighty and without a doubt peace and tranquility in ones life. One must exert much effort to make sure that no other human being goes to sleep with hurt and unsettlement of the heart because of the pain you have caused.

Anas ibn Malik (may ALLAH the Almighty be pleased with him) reported: He was sitting with the Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) and he said, “Coming upon you now is a man from the people of Paradise.” So a man came from the helpers (Ansaar) whose beard looked disarrayed by the water from ablution, and he was carrying both of his shoes with his left hand. The next day the Prophet repeated the same words, and the helpers came in the same condition. The third day the Prophet repeated the same again, and the man from the helpers showed up in the same condition. When the Messenger of Allah stood up to leave, Abdullah ibn Umar ibn Al-As followed the man and asked him, “I have quarreled with my father and I have sworn not to enter my home for three days. May I stay with you?” He said, “Yes.”

Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Al-As (may ALLAH be pleased with him) stayed three nights with him but never saw him praying at night, and whenever he went to bed, he would remember Allah and rest until he woke up for morning prayer. Abdullah said that he never heard anything but good from his mouth. When three nights had passed and he did not see anything special about his actions, Abdullah asked him, “O servant of Allah, I have not quarreled with my father nor have I cut relations with him. I heard the Messenger of Allah say three times that a man from the people of Paradise was coming to us, and then you came. So I thought I should stay with you and see what you are doing that I should follow, but I did not see you do anything special. What is the reason that the Messenger of Allah spoke highly of you?” The man said, “It is as you have seen.” When Abdullah was about to leave, the man said, “It is as you have seen, except that I do not find fraud in my soul towards the Muslims, and I do not envy anyone because of the good that Allah has given them.” (Musnad Ahmed)

How pure were the souls of these great people! The best people of this nation! These people are Legends, such legends that their legacy has outlived their lives.
(May ALLAH be pleased with them all)

These amazing souls were humans just like you and I, they breathed the same air we breath, they walked on the same earth we walk on, the difference is they realised the true essence of being a Muslim and not only acknowledged it but practised the knowledge they had learnt from our beloved master Muhammad (peace and blessings of the Almighty ALLAH be upon him always).

ALLAH the Almighty does not need our worship we need him. We must remember that each Muslim is a representative of Islam. We must show others Muslims and Non-Muslims alike that Islam is a religion of peace. Islam is the solution to our problems if we adhere to each and every command (There are not many as you can see from what has been mentioned above) of ALLAH the Almighty and the beloved messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) then the world would be a better place, a place of security, tranquility, a place of compassion, love, a temporary place of happiness that would lead to the eternal abode of bliss!

Everything in life as a Muslim is based upon these two aforementioned points:

1) The Rights of ALLAH the Almighty.

2) The Rights of The Servants of ALLAH the Almighty.

Love for ALLAH the Almighty and his beloved Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him), good manners, bad manners, business and trade, good code of conduct, love, hate, well wishing, jealousy, malice , envy, loyalty, hypocrisy, respect, disgrace, obedience, forgiveness, enmity and much more are all emotions and actions attached within these two points.

Insha’allah (by the will of ALLAH) we will discuss as many emotions and actions a person feels. When these emotions are permissible and when they are not. How can we better ourselves and how can we gain proximity to ALLAH the Almighty and his beloved Messenger
Muhammad (peace and blessings of ALLAH the Almighty be upon him always). So stay tuned in this journey of “Rectification of the Soul”

I end this post with a Beautiful Hadith of our beloved master Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), short but concise…

Muadh ibn Jabal (may ALLAH be pleased with him) said, “The last advice the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, gave me when I put my foot in the stirrup was that he said, ‘Make your character good for the people, Muadh ibn Jabal!’ ” (Muwatta Imam Malik)

All praises are due to ALLAH the Almighty and peace be upon all his beloved honourable prophets especially our beloved master Muhammad Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam.
